5 Ways to Make Your Fitness Resolutions Stick

 

It’s almost a new year, so get your party pants on! If you can’t fit into your party pants, you may be thinking of starting a fitness resolution. How can you make sure you stay motivated this time?

1.      Get INVESTED

Are you an “I’ll sit in the back” kind of girl? Do you like to have a quick exit strategy, knowing you can bail if things get uncomfortable? I hate to break it to you sister, but lasting fitness resolutions are going to require you to get invested. When you put time and money into your goals, you’re going to value them more. Put your workout schedule on your calendar and protect that time. We’ve made it easy with multiple classes, free childcare, and discounts when you purchase multiple classes. 2.      Get REAL

You need to know how much time you can realistically commit to your fitness goals. As much as we would love to see your friendly face 25x a week, we know that anything sustainable involves balance. Don’t set yourself up for failure by setting the bar too high. Set a goal that is challenging but realistic, then crush it!

 

3.      Get FRIENDLY

We get it, you’re going to sweat in all the wrong places. You’re going to roll out of bed at 4:45am and forget to brush your teeth. You will have a lot of reasons to want to avoid people while taking fitness classes, but friends with common goals are key to lasting success. When you’re ready to sit down with a sleeve of thin mints in front of the TV, you’ll think of your friend who is waiting for you to get to your class (and she WILL give you the stink eye if you skip!). Not comfortable making new friends? Bring a friend with you!
 

4.      Get COMPETITIVE 

One of the best ways to keep yourself motivated for more than 5 minutes is a little friendly competition. Remember the friends we talked about earlier? Start a competition, and make it good! The person who skips any classes this month has to do carpool. The person who squats the longest gets to pick the spot for ladies’ night. Don’t like competing with others? Well, who better to compete with than yourself? Sit down at the beginning of each week and decide one thing you can do to improve from last week.
 

5.      Get REWARDS

It’s proven that rewards motivate us far more than punishment ever will. Stop trying on those jeans from junior high each morning knowing they will only come up to mid-calf. It’s not helping you. Instead, make a list of rewards, and then decide what fitness goals you want to meet to earn them!
